In 1994 President Bill Clinton signed into law the unanimous adoption by the U.S. Congress to establish the fourth Sunday of every July as Parents' Day, a perennial day of commemoration similar to Mother's Day and Father's Day. This year the date translates into July 24—today.
According to the Congressional Resolution, Parent's Day is established for "recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children."
Parents' Day is a national observance, but it is not a public U.S. holiday.
