The World According To Paris

During a recent conference call with Paris Hilton (in anticipation for Hilton’s “The World According to Paris” series), I asked the popular heiress about whether she feels that her stints on previous reality shows like “The Simple Life” have helped create an unshakeable stigma.
And while Paris agreed that that might be the case (you can read the interview here), Hilton said “I love reality,” believing that it’s “fun” and is far less boring than shooting a scripted series.
Hmmm.  Let’s put some extra emphasis on the word scripted.
After the premiere of “The World According to Paris,” Hilton still has a big problem on her hands.  And it’s not even due to the show’s content, which was pretty boring and formulaic in nature.
Paris’ problem is that reality television brought her face and persona to the masses for years.  Because of this, it’s created an image (rightfully or wrongfully) or Paris being the “dumb blonde.”
So why would Hilton expect that yet another reality show would remove this stigma?  And after having admitted that her previous shows were somewhat scripted, to the point where network execs helped her become cartoon-like and encouraged her to play a character (if you believe Hilton’s side of the story), why would viewers believe that this isn’t occurring again on the “World According to Paris?”
Based on Paris’ TV track record, it’s not a stretch to believe that her reality shows are the least “real” of them all.
